Umema Tariq
LMHC (Pending)
Umema Tariq specializes in life coaching and holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Queens College.
Ms. Tariq holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Queens College, where she was awarded the Jesse M. Vasquez Multicultural Counseling Award for her commitment to inclusive, justice-oriented care. She has supported adolescents and adults across clinical, academic, and community settings, helping clients move through anxiety, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and major life transitions with greater clarity and confidence. With a calm presence and clinical intuition, Ms. Tariq helps clients slow down, reflect deeply, and reconnect with the parts of themselves they’ve silenced or outgrown. Her work is guided by culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices, blending Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic awareness, ACT, mindfulness, and DBT to meet clients where they are—with compassion and intention.
While in the process of obtaining her limited LMHC permit to practice psychotherapy under supervision, Ms. Tariq currently offers life coaching for individuals seeking high-impact support outside of a clinical diagnosis. Her coaching is especially relevant for BIPOC professionals, first generation adults, and high achievers navigating burnout, transitions, or self-worth challenges. Clients who begin with life coaching may have the opportunity to transition into therapy once Ms. Tariq begins seeing clients under her limited permit later this summer.
