May 2021

Dear Client,

Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to inform you of the measures we are taking here at Therapy Center of New York (TCNY) to promote online counseling (telemedicine and teletherapy) and protect the health and safety of our providers and clients. For the most current information, please visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/. Please also review the following information and recommendations:

New York Residents with Insurance Coverage: TCNY is offering on-demand access to telemedicine or teletherapy for both new and existing clients who are residents of New York (including New York residents temporarily outside of New York state). Please contact us to request a telemedicine or teletherapy appointment and confirm your eligibility for this service.

Residents of States Outside of New York with Insurance Coverage: due to COVID-19, many states have either waived or expedited licensing requirements for our providers to deliver virtual telemedicine or teletherapy services to residents of states outside of New York (with insurance coverage based in such states). In particular, insured Connecticut residents can now see any of our providers virtually. New Jersey residents with insurance can also see our providers virtually (as long as the provider has received an expedited temporary New Jersey license). Please click on the following links to check on your state and eligibility to see one of our doctors (MDs), Psychologists or Social Workers virtually. Please contact us to request a telemedicine or teletherapy appointment and confirm your eligibility for this service.

Self-Paying Clients: telemedicine and teletherapy can also be provided for new and existing clients residing anywhere in the U.S. who are self-paying (with no insurance coverage).

New or existing clients who are eligible for telemedicine or teletherapy will need to fill out and sign a telemedicine consent form, which is available from your provider (or) click on this link to download the telemedicine consent form. Please e-mail the signed consent form to your provider or This email address is being protected from spambots. If you are a new client AND you have already been assigned a provider and have a scheduled appointment, please fill out the TCNY registration form in advance of your session (click on this link to download the registration form). Please make sure to include your provider's name at the top, and then e-mail the completed and signed registration form along with a picture of your ID and insurance card to This email address is being protected from spambots. We ask that anyone visiting a TCNY office to wear a mask, practice social distancing and comply with posted signage. You are entering and using TCNY's premises voluntarily at your own risk. Instructions are as follows:

• Please come on time and arrive no more than five minutes prior to your appointment to minimize your waiting time

• Your provider may take your temperature using a forehead thermometer, and if your temperature exceeds normal, the appointment will be postponed

Masks are required for entry into the premises. If your mask breaks, your provider will provide a back-up mask (supplies permitting)

• Upon entry into TCNY, please wash your hands with soap and water in the kitchen (using a paper towel to dry) or use hand sanitizer

• Sit or stand six feet away from other clients in the reception area

• We recommend a maximum of two people in the reception area to minimize social contact

• No guests are allowed except for clients with a scheduled appointment

• Please comply with all posted signage

In general, please avoid large gatherings involving close contact with others and stay home whenever possible. We recommend avoiding hand shaking and close contact with anyone else (traditional bows or “namastes” are now preferred, given the circumstances)

We would like to remind everyone regarding critical hygiene and health practices such as washing hands regularly with soap & water (for 20 seconds), as well as staying home when sick (both providers and clients).

We have conducted a thorough cleaning & disinfection of our offices and will continue to clean and disinfect on a regular basis. We will continue to evaluate our policies and procedures to keep our TCNY community as safe as possible, and we will update you as needed in the weeks ahead.

For all clients and visitors with any symptoms of illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.), the best thing you can do for yourself and your community is to stay home. You can contact your provider to reschedule (or) determine your eligibility for a telemedicine or teletherapy visit.

If you are feeling more severely ill, and in particular, are having trouble breathing, do not delay seeking medical care. If you are unable to go to a local emergency room, then call 911. Warn 911 if you are at risk for having COVID-19 (recent travel, exposure to known or potential cases, etc.).

For clients with possible exposure but no symptoms:

If you are not seriously ill, have been in close contact with a person confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, have recently traveled to states or countries that New York has specified as requiring quarantines upon arrival in New York, OR feel you have been exposed to COVID-19, PLEASE stay home. We urge you to call your provider prior to coming into the office. If your local Department of Health has asked you to stay home in isolation, that’s what you should do. Your employer may ask you to do the same. You will likely have to be home for at least 14 days after your potential exposure. You might be asked to take your temperature twice a day, and report to your doctor or the health department if you feel sick or develop a fever.

TCNY is committed to providing our clients with updated information during this challenging time. Please check our website www.therapycenterofny.com for the latest news.

Thank you,

The TCNY Team
